The Girl's Bathroom

The lights are out in the girl's bathroom at school.
It's dark and quite warm when you go in.
The lights have been out for a couple of weeks now,
But no lightbulb-fixer has come in.
The warm darkness presses on your eyes
Then leaves as you notice the light leaking in
From the cold, cold doorway
Where classrooms lie down the hall.
If you were to go in a dark, warm bathroom like this
And stick your hands up as far as they go
The air is quite dense (though pleasantly so)
And warm as a decent fire.
Whenever I go in this light-depraved darkness
I love the silent darkness and warmth
And though it may seem quite odd to you,
I sincerely hope they never fix the lights
For the darkness feels like a relaxing break
From the kids in the classroom I've come from
That were making an awful din.
